Forgotten Music

The following have been taken from Suzukichat.

NOW I love it when kids don't bring their books since we can do the whole
lesson with our EARS.
Jane Jackson

Frankly, I really don't see "forgotten" music as a problem, or even as
my problem. I see it as the parent's problem. The parent is the one
who is supposed to supervise the kids. I don't feel that it is my
responsibility to teach the kids all their life lessons all at once.

For one thing, I (almost) always have extra copies of the music. For
another, I may put the kid on the computer theory program (not usually)
or do all kinds of creative activities that are harder than what they
are working on. Somehow that motivates them to remember their music -
they don't usually want to work so hard again! :^)

Music lessons should be a pleasant time, not a time to get scolded.

About Suzukichat

Suzukichat is a Yahoo group where parents and teachers write in with questions, problems or anything that would be of interest to others in the group The questions and problems usually get lots of good answers from others in the group. If I read the Suzuki chat posts very much I usually get very inspired and have long wanted to find a good way to save certain posts. It could also be made into a book. Really some good stuff. Well, I have found a way. I am going to paste what I want to save on this blog, and with good labeling it should be easy to find what you want.
